Butler Interim Coach Settling into Role

As KJCCC teams prepare for the 2025 season this fall, the Butler Grizzlies are being led by a familiar face in a new role.

Kyle Woodall will serve as the interim head coach this season, following Brice Vignery stepping down this spring to take a job with the Kansas Jayhawks. He says the transition happened quickly and in many ways, out of necessity.

The coaching change happened at the beginning of spring practice, with the team already beginning work for 2025. Woodall says the efforts of the players and staff will help his transition to head coach.

Woodall has spent the past three seasons as defensive coordinator, and is primarily a defensive coach, but has also coached on the offensive side of the ball for the Grizzlies. He says that experience will help him be a better football coach.

Butler went 7-4 last season and earned a co-conference championship with Hutchinson and Coffeyville. The Grizzlies open the 2025 season with NEO on August 30th.
