The Field Kindley Golden Tornado had a successful weekend at the state track and field meet in Wichita, including a 4A state champion.
Senior Jake Horner is the the Class 4A champion in the 300m hurdles, after running a school-record time of 39.32 seconds. Horner won the race by nearly a full second, with Andale's Harrison Potucek placing second at 40.28 seconds.
Horner was also the champion in the event at both the Southeast Kansas League meet and the Class 4A Louisburg Regional.
Additionally, the Field Kindley relay team placed second in the state in the 4x100, and set a new school record. The team of Erin Lopez, Brooklyn White, Jakayla Johnson-Jones, and Kaylin Caron finished with a time of 48.69 seconds, and earn state runner-up in the event.
Lopez also placed 3rd in the state in the 100m dash, finishing top 3 in the event each year of her high school career.
