Richard Dean Wade

Richard Dean Wade, 73, passed away on March 11, 2024. He was born in Coffeyville, Kansas to Clarence J.R. Wade and Lillian Pearle Wade on July 23, 1950. He was one of five children and grew up in Havana, Kansas. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Clarence Wade and Fred Joe Wade.

Richard was a loving husband to his wife of over 47 years, Kay Wade, whom he married in England. Upon their marriage, Richard became an instant father to three children, Kim, Karen, and Dean. They spent their time as a family initially in England, and then in mostly Plattsburg, NY before Richard and Kay settled in Williamsburg 20 years ago. In addition to being a wonderful husband, Richard was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend.

Richard served in the United States Air Force where he retired after 24 years as a Chief Master Sergeant, the highest rank that is awarded to a non-commissioned officer. During this time of service, Richard received the Commendation Medal, Meritorious Medal, and the Defense Medal along with other commendations. While active duty, Richard went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Upon his retirement from the Air Force, Richard started a second career in civil service, which he also retired from in 2016.

Richard had a strong love of family, and a true zest for life. He also loved to sing and would often enjoy performing karaoke. Some would refer to him as our local Elvis. Richard also had a passion for golf, which he played whenever possible. During his times of travel in his career Richard would often take his clubs with him and get in a round. Being from Kansas, Richard was a true Kansas City Chiefs football fan and was thrilled to see them win the super bowl again this year! He was also a long-time member of the Moose Lodge, belonging to the 757 Williamsburg Chapter.

Richard leaves behind countless memories that will be cherished by family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Kay Wade; Daughter, Kim (J.C) Morton; Daughter, Karen (Mitch) Pinnell; Son, Dean Wade; Sisters, Vicky Carinder, Peggy King, and sister-in-law, Dana Wade; Grandchildren, Sabrina (Rick) Day, John Collin Morton, Stefanie (Ty) Goeken, Brian Bair (Kassie), Jennifer Bair & Jordan Wade; Great grandchildren; Owen, Lukas, Naomi, Madeline, Lillian and Evelyn.
