Lee Olin Ferguson, 78, of Coffeyville passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Labette County Hospital in Parsons, Kansas from a stroke. 

 

Lee was born on March 26, 1945, to Lee Wilcox and Frances Caroline (Grittner) Ferguson in Coffeyville, Kansas.

 

Lee received his Masters Degree in Physics from Kansas State University.  He was a rocket scientist who contributed seriously to the Voyager 1 & 2 space crafts and their missions. While he was attending KSU, he ran a nuclear reactor.

 

Lee is preceded in death by his parents.

 

He is survived by his two brothers, Jim & Joe Ferguson.

 

Following's Lee's wishes, he has been cremated and no public services are planned.  There will be a private family service at a later date.

 

Services have been entrusted to David W. Barnes Funeral Home.
