Wing Chiu Cheng, 75, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at his daughter's home in Olathe surrounded by his family.

 

Born in China on August 18, 1948, he made his home in Coffeyville, Kansas for 34 years, where he was a beloved figure in the community. A supportive husband, dedicated father, and humble business owner, Wing demonstrated the depth of his character in every facet of his life.

 

Wing found his calling in the restaurant industry, where his talent shined. He owned and operated the Hong Kong Delight, a local favorite eatery for 33 years. His dedication and talent were evident in the successful operation of his restaurant, which stood as a testament to his hard work and commitment. Beyond his professional life, Wing was passionate about watching sports and had a profound appreciation for cars, hobbies that brought him joy and relaxation.

 

Wing is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Lai "Susie" Wong; his son, Joe Cheng; his daughter, Lisa (Eric Wright) Cheng; his siblings, Suk Ching, Johnnie Cheng, Meena Cheng, and Alex Cheng; and his cherished granddaughters, Mila and Isla Wright. He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

The family will greet friends on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

 

A funeral service will be on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.
