Edwin "Ed" Joe Beason

Edwin "Ed" Joe Beason, 81, a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.

 

He was born on November 17, 1942, in Independence, KS, to Donald Marion and Ruth Aileen (Gudgen) Beason.  Ed grew up in the Hale Community northeast of Sedan, Kansas where he attended grade school and graduated from Sedan High School. He went on to attend Kansas State University where he received his bachelor's degree in Agronomy. He later received his master’s degree in Agronomy from Iowa State University.

 

Ed lived a life that was full of love, dedication, and service to others. He was a thoughtful man who cherished his family, his community, and his work. His talents were many, but his passion for agriculture stood out the most. Ed was a retired agronomist who dedicated his life to the field of agriculture. His commitment to his work was a reflection of his love for the land and the people it sustained.

 

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Nina Beason, whom he married on July 2, 1998. Their union was a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Ed's legacy will continue to live on through his children Jeffrey (Desirae) Beason, Stephanie (Will) Tucker, Rebecca (Roger George) Beason, Chad (Gaile) Cole, Lee (Kristen) Cole, and KY (Kimberly) Cole; eighteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Herbert (Jeanie) Beason and James (Diana) Beason. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Ruth Beason.

 

A visitation for Ed will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas.

 

A funeral service will be on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Bible Baptist Church, located at 701 West 4th Street, Coffeyville, Kansas with Pastor Daniel Knight officiating. Burial will follow in the Hale Cemetery northeast of Sedan.

 

The family suggests memorials in Ed’s memory to the Bible Baptist Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
