Robert F. Harris

Robert F. Harris of Coffeyville passed away surrounded by his family at his home on Saturday, November 4, 2023.

 

He was born July 2, 1935, in rural Oswego, Kansas to Joseph R. and Margaret (Ruttgen) Harris. He attended Gore Grade School, Oswego High School, and graduated from Labette County Community High School in Altamont in 1955. While at LCCHS, he met Martha A. Adams, and the couple was married in 1956.

 

Robert started working at Cessna in Wichita after graduation and after five years moved Coffeyville where he began working for Funk Mfg. Co.  HE retired from John Deere Coffeyville Works after 34 years.  He enjoyed his retirement on the farm. He was a member of Central Church of the Nazarene where he served in many capacities.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

 

He is survived by his wife, Martha of the home; four children, Gary (Lori) Harris, David (DeeAnn) Harris, Janet (Tony) Stussy, and Mark (Kerie) Harris. In addition to his wife and children, he has eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be on Thursday, November 9, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

Graveside Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2023, at the Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville with Pastor David Warren of Topeka, Kansas officiating.

 

The family suggests memorials to the Charity of the Donor's Choice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
