Ethel Ann Currier

Ethel Ann Currier, a loving and supportive mother, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2023, at the age of 91.

 

Born on April 4, 1932, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Bert and Eva Katherine (Richarz) Chaney.  Ethel was a proud lifelong resident of her hometown, graduating from Field Kindley High School and attending Coffeyville Community College. Her humble and thoughtful nature touched the lives of many who knew her.

 

Ethel married the love of her life, William "Bill" Currier, on June 30, 1951, and together they built a beautiful life in Coffeyville where they raised their three children. When she was young, she worked at the movie theaters. she later worked in the gift department at Read's, worked at Layton Bauer Drug Store, was secretary at the First Presbyterian Church, and retired as a Teacher’s Aide at USD #445.  Ethel was an active member in the First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge, with friends at local clubs and gatherings.

 

Ethel is survived by her daughter, Kathy Henderson and husband Gary, granddaughter Heather Lowrance and her husband Jeff, great-grandchildren Max Lowrance and Wyatt Lowrance, and brother Bert Chaney and wife Marilyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Eva Chaney, her husband, William "Bill" Currier, and daughter Ann Currier, son Bill Currier, and fifteen siblings. Ethel will be greatly missed by her family and friends, who will carry her memory in their hearts for years to come.

 

Following Ethel's wishes cremation has taken place under the direction of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.  A graveside memorial service will take place at a later date.
