James "Jim" Douglas Burnham

James "Jim" Douglas Burnham, a resilient, loving, and creative spirit, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

 

Jim was born on November 21, 1947, in Newberg, Oregon to Richard and Lorraine (Schneller) Burnham. He grew up in Labette County, Kansas, where he attended school in Angola and graduated from Labette County High School. He furthered his education by earning his bachelor's degree from Friends University.

 

On March 11, 1978, Jim married the love of his life, Connie Long at the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville, Kansas. Jim and Connie raised three wonderful children, James II, Timothy(Chris) and Lisa. They made their home in Labette County, Kansas.

 

Jim’s passion for life was evident in his love of the outdoors. He enjoyed working on the farm, traveling, and attending his children’s activities. Jim was known for his dedication to his work at John Deere Coffeyville Works, where he retired in 2004 after working there for 38 years.

 

Jim is survived by his wife Connie Burnham of the home; children, James D. Burnham II of rural Coffeyville, Kansas, Timothy(Chris) C. Burnham of Chetopa, Kansas, Lisa Marie Burnham of rural Coffeyville, Kansas; grandchildren, Tristan and Chloe; and brothers, Richard Burnham of Spokane, Washington and Russell Burnham of Kansas City, Missouri. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lorraine Burnham and three sisters.

 

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, from 1:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

 

Funeral Services will be held at the First Assembly of God Church, 1504 West 8th Street, Coffeyville, Kansas, on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. followed by interment at the North Edna Elm Grove Cemetery north of Edna, Kansas.  Pastor Randy DePriest will officiate.
