Joyce Ann (Kimrey) Bever

Joyce Ann (Kimrey) Bever age 76 of Liberty, Kansas passed away at home on May 5, 2023.

 

Joyce was born on February 12, 1947, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Virgil and Florence (Curry) Kimrey.  She attended Edna schools and Coffeyville Community Junior College.  In her early years she worked as a secretary for various churches and local businesses.  She was a talented musician, playing both the piano and organ and shared those talents in ministry at church for many years.

 

On June 2, 1967, she was united in marriage to Robert Bever.  The couple have three children, Melissa, Shelly, and Robert II.  They lived a short time in Kansas City and Eighty-Four Pennsylvania and the rest of the time was spent in Montgomery County, Kansas.

 

Joyce and Robert attended First United Methodist Church in Liberty.  In the 80's they were foster parents to several children.  Joyce enjoyed sewing, bead work, quilting, cooking, cross stitch, playing cards, puzzles, word search and she most enjoyed watching her grandchildren and spending time with her family.

 

Surviving to cherish her memory is her husband, Robert, her three children, Melissa and her husband Rodney Lester of Independence, Shelly and her husband Joe Corbin of Overland Park, Robert Bever II and Kristi of rural Liberty; her mother, Florence Kimrey of Pittsburg; five grandchildren and one great grandchild; sister Deanna and her husband Tom Loughmiller of Pittsburg.

 

She was preceded in death by her father Virgil Kimrey and her granddaughter, Avery Corbin.

 

The family of Joyce has entrusted the arrangement of services to Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel.  Services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Booe officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10 am to service time at 11. Joyce will be laid to rest in Liberty Cemetery following the services. Viewing and Book signing will be Monday, May 8, 2023, at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel from Noon to 5pm.  The family encourages memorial contributions to be made payable to either St. Judes Childrens Hospital or Liberty First United Methodist Church Missions and those can be left in care of the chapel or mailed to Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, KS 67337.   Visit www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com  to view live streaming of her services under her obituary page where you can also leave an online condolence or share a memory for the fam
