Patsy D. Maritt (Pat),

Patsy D. Maritt (Pat), age 90, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at her home in Coffeyville, Kansas embracing her husband Dean, with whom she shared 69 years of marriage.

Pat was born July 22, 1932, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Edward Harry Mills and Jessie Myrl (Pettit) Mills. She attended McKinley Elementary School in Coffeyville and graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School in 1950. She lived her entire life in the Coffeyville area. Pat married David Dean Maritt (Dean) on November 6, 1954, at Evangelical United Brethren Church. Soon after they were married, Dean built their home in rural Coffeyville where they raised their family and still reside to this day.

Pat worked for North Planing Mill, KGGF Radio, and was secretary at Trinity United Methodist Church for 20 years until her retirement in 1991. She was an exceptionally speedy typist and could do so with amazing accuracy. She was known for keeping meticulous records and after retirement she was the recordkeeper for Robbins Cemetery. She would tell you that her lifelong career was raising her family, which meant the world to her. Whether it be school or sports or community related, she never missed an event for her children or grandchildren if she could help it. She loved entertaining her grandkids by greeting trick or treaters at her front door wearing a costume, or at least her favorite pig snout mask, doing her hysterical “Lambchop” impression, or kicking off Christmas Eve gift unwrapping with her famous “123 Go” starter command. Pat was a lifelong avid reader and Dean was always finding her latest stash of books stuffed into the couch cushions. She was a fantastic speller and was a whiz at word puzzles. After they retired, Pat and Dean enjoyed taking bus trips as part of a local travel club with family and friends.

Pat was a humble person. She was always a champion of, and rooted for, the underdog. Never pretentious, if she was shopping and saw a shirt, she thought you would like, she would buy it for you, and it didn’t matter to her if it was name brand or not, or from Wal Mart or from Dillards. As she had great taste in picking out gifts, it was certain you would like it. Pat will be missed beyond belief.

She is survived by her husband Dean of the home, three daughters – Debbie Grisolano and husband Joe, of Pittsburg Kansas, Laura Joseph and husband David, of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Lisa Wright and husband David of Coffeyville, Kansas; and one son David Maritt and wife Lori, of Coffeyville; grandchildren Brian Grisolano, Tony (Kadey) Grisolano, Zachary (Samantha) Maritt, Joshua Maritt, Matthew Joseph, Brandon Joseph, Ben Wright, Eric Wright, Julia Wright; and great-grandchildren Luke Grisolano, Landon Grisolano, Ellie Grisolano, Brantley Maritt and Tayler Maritt.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Virginia Fontenot and Marjorie Harriman, and an infant sister, Dorothy Mills.
