Gerald Richard Wisely, 89, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2020 in Coffeyville. 

 

Gerald was born on July 5, 1930 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Charles and Florence (Mooneyham) Wisely.  He grew up in Coffeyville where he attended local schools and graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1949. 

 

He studied agriculture, and started farming after high school.  He worked for Sherwin Williams for 15 years.  He operated a Greenhouse on Overlook for 30 years and also operated Wisely Garden Center, he also owned apartment houses. 

 

In 1955 he was united in marriage to Beulah McClure.  The couple made their home in Coffeyville and attended the First Southern Baptist Church. 

After retiring he enjoyed camping, gardening and visiting with and drinking coffee with a Senior Group at McDonalds. 

Gerald is survived by his wife, Beulah Wisely of the home; his children, David Martin of Coffeyville, Kansas, Kathy Moore of Cherryvale, Kansas and Linda Wisely of Olathe, Kansas; nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Florence Wisely as well as one daughter Patti Detar. 

 

Following Gerald’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home.  Memorial services will be held at a later date.
