Barbara Maurine Neale

Barbara Maurine Neale, age 93 died Wednesday February 6, 2019, at the Village Manor Christian Care Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

 

The Coffeyville Kansas native was the daughter of the late Joe and Maurine Read and the granddaughter of Hazard Wilson Read founder of H.W. Read’s department stores in Coffeyville Kansas.  She is a life-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville KS and an Affiliate member of the State Street United Methodist Church in Bowling Green KY.  She was dedicated to her family and many friends and took pleasure in gardening and traveling with Ed.  She enjoyed her memberships to the Art and Literature Club that her Mother organized in 1928.  In 1956 she was awarded a PTA Life Time membership.  She was member of the Coffeyville Historical Society, a member of the Friday Book Review Club and a charter member of the Coffeyville Country Club. She volunteered as a member of the Red Cross, Salvation Army and Coffeyville Regional Medical Center Auxiliaries.  

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin of 70 years and one grandson Joseph Burke Neale.  She is survived by three sons, Ed Neale Jr. and wife, Kathy Lou (Cook) Neale of Columbia MO, David Neale and wife, Lynda(Wilson) Neale of Bowling Green KY and John Neale and wife, Nancy (Burke) Neale of Arlington TX, a sister JoAnn Mattson of Lafayette CO, five grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. 

 

A Memorial Service celebrating Barbara’s life will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Veterans Memorial Patio in Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Nicole Swartz-Eck officiating. Inurnment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park.

 

The family will host a reception to greet friends at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Parlor at the First United Methodist Church.

 

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the First United Methodist Church and the Brown Mansion in Coffeyville KS. Contributions may be left with or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
