David Eugene Foster, 71, went home to be with his Lord on March 28, 2019 in Coffeyville, Kansas at his home surrounded by his family. 

 

David was born on October 22, 1947 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Frank and Louise (Hannah) Foster.  He attended local schools and graduated from Field Kindley High School.  David became a certified welder and worked for American Craftsman for 10 years before retiring. 

He was a very skilled artist; he entered a couple of his drawings at the Inter-State Fair and Rodeo a couple of times and both times received 1^st and 2^nd place ribbons.  He built rod iron furniture and was a very skilled wood burner.  Those who knew him would describe him as a perfectionist.  He enjoyed doing the 100 Mile Sale most years, going to auctions and fishing.  He was a kind hearted man who would help people in need and gave to others without hesitation.  Most of all he loved his family and the time he spent with them and his friends. 

 

On December 15, 1973, he married Johnnie Akin.  They had two boys of the home, John and Joe.  They had two daughters after the wedding, Regina and Billie Jo.  They later divorced.  He remarried on February 17, 1990 to Patty Weimer.  They had a daughter of the home at the time, Brandi.  They later had a son David Wayne.  They divorced in 1994. 

 

David is survived by his sons, David Wayne Foster of Coffeyville, Kansas, John Clark and wife, Brenda, Joe Clark and wife, Kelly all of Wichita, Kansas; daughters, Regina Engstrand and husband, David of Mulvane, Kansas, Billy Jo Duncan of Wichita, Kansas, Brandi Owens and husband, Zach; grandchildren, Austin, Syan and David Wyatt Foster, as well as 19 other grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brother and best friend, Ed Foster of the home; sisters, Mary-Lou Frost and Sharon McNeal all of Coffeyville, Kansas. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Louise Foster; siblings, Johnny Foster, Sammy Foster, Jimmy Foster, Leslie Foster, Sarah Coy, Audrey Budd and Margie Rowe. 

 

Cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas and a Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date. 

 

The family suggests memorials to the Shriners Hospitals for Children; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
