Jose Ortiz, 79, of Coffeyville passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at his home.
He was born on July 1, 1939 at Cortazar, Guanajuato, Mexico to Narciso and Maria (Godinez) Ortiz. Jose lived most of his life in the Cortazar area.
He married Maria Luisa Curreño on May 16, 1962 following their marriage they lived in the Cortazar area for many years where Jose farmed. They moved to Coffeyville several years ago to be closer to their children.
Jose was a member of the Catholic Church in Cortazar, while living in Coffeyville they attended Holy Name Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife Maria Luisa Ortiz; his children, daughter, Maria Ramirez and husband, Francisco, son, Narciso Ortiz and wife, Maria Luisa, son, Fabian Ortiz and wife Maria del Carmen, son, Delfino Ortiz and wife, Julie, daughter, Maria Guadalupe Martinez and husband, Pablo de Jesus, son, Jose Carmen Ortiz and wife, Maria Raquel, daughter, Maria Luisa Dominguez and husband, Juan Carlos, son, Alejandro Ortiz and wife, Maria Guadalupe, daughter, Maria del Rayo Ortiz, son, Mauricio Ortiz and wife, Maria Ascencion, son, Juan Ortiz and Alma Rosa Piña; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Spanish Rosary Vigil led by Father Dan Lorimer will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2019 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville. The family will greet friends following the Rosary until 8:30 p.m. at the Church.
After the Rosary Vigil, Mr. Ortiz and his family will return to Cortazar, Guanajato, Mexico for Mass of Christian Burial and Interment.
