Judith "Judy" Kay BRUHN

Judith “Judy” Kay Bruhn, 70, of Liberty, Kansas passed away on September 28, 2018 at Neodesha Care and Rehabilitation in Neodesha, Kansas. 

 

Judy was born on July 5, 1948 in Cherryvale, Kansas to Robert “Bob” and Wilma (Holt) Leahew.  She grew up in Cherryvale, Kansas where she graduated High School.  Judy went on to earn her Associates Degree from Independence Community College. 

 

In 1965 she was united in marriage to Marvin Jones of the union three children were born.  The couple later divorced. 

 

On August 5, 1989 she married Henry A. Bruhn in Independence, Kansas.  Judy spent her time as a homemaker.  She enjoyed raising her children and tending to the home.  She loved playing games, and reading books.  She also collected M&M figures and knick knacks. 

 

Surviving to cherish her memory is her husband, Henry Bruhn of the home; children, Lynn Jones and wife, Christy of Independence, Kansas, Michelle Gillman and husband, Jeff of Coffeyville, Kansas, Mike Jones and wife, Michelle of Independence, Kansas; Jacqueline McKibben and husband, Doug of Miami, Oklahoma, Harry Bruhn of Coffeyville, Kansas; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; five brothers; five sisters; mother and father-in-law, Harry and Christina Scott of Independence, Kansas; brother-in-law, Sam Bruhn of Independence, Kansas and her lifelong best friend, Rhonda Sherwood of Andover, Kansas along with several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Wilma Leahew; five sisters and three brothers. 

 

The family will be holding a Memorial Service on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Life Praise and Woship Church, 308 N. Liberty, Cherryvale, KS with Pastor David Cavaness officiating.  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society and mailed to David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
