CCC Baseball Season Comes to an End

Coffeyville Community College Red Raven baseball season came to an end this weekend. As the 12 seed they saw a first round loss in the Region 6 tournament to the 5 seed Colby. The Red Ravens were able to get a win in the second game to force game three but Colby's offense proved too much as they would win 22-12 and advance to the next round.

CCC's team leaders for the year include Zac Freeman who had 67 hits in 174 at bats for a .385 average, Austin Bonnel and Luis Mendoza were tied for the team lead in home runs at 5, and Jorge Ortiz led the team in RBIs with 52. The teams pitching leaders were Jackson Blancarte who had a 3.24 ERA and Austin Bechtel who led the team in wins with an 7-3 record and 82 strikeouts in 63 2/3 innings pitched. Coffeyville finishes with a 29-27 record.

Caney's Kaminska One Strikeout Away From National Record

The hard throwing ace from Caney Valley High School Jace Kamiska, saw his consecutive strikeout state record end tonight at 32. In his start against Humboldt, Kaminska's first batter grounded out to first base.

That put Kaminska's thirty-two consecutive strikeouts the second longest streak ever in the nation behind the record of 33 just a single strikeout away.

He did however end the game with 15 strikeouts in a seven-inning complete game which Caney Valley won 3-1.

Kaminska so far this season has 73 strikeouts in 27 inning pitched and he's only a junior. Kaminska has already committed to stay in Kansas and will be playing for Wichita State.
