Former Jayhawk Has Rape Case Dismissed

Prosecutors have dropped a felony rape case against former Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball player Arterio Morris.

Morris was charged in August and dismissed from KU after an alleged rape occured at McCarthy Hall, which houses the Jayhawk basketball team. The case was dropped due to insufficient evidence.

Morris transferred to Kansas after spending his freshman season at Texas, where he was arrested for a misdemeanor assault charge after grabbing his ex-girlfriend.

Morris was a top-20 recruit in the nation coming out of high school in Dallas. He played significant minutes for the Longhorns in his freshman season, helping the team advance to the Elite Eight.

It is not known at this time if Morris will be eligible to return to Division 1 basketball, and how soon that may be.
