Chiefs Sign Wentz to Deal

The Kansas City Chiefs have a new backup quarterback.

Kansas City agrees to a one year deal with Carson Wentz. Wentz spent last season as the backup QB for the Los Angeles Rams, and has experience starting for the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, and Washington Commanders.

Wentz is 31 years old, and was the second overall pick in 2016. He was an MVP candidate early in his career, including leading the Eagles to the Super Bowl in 2018, but injuries and inconsistent play have derailed his career over the past five seasons.

Wentz will serve as the primary backup to Patrick Mahomes this season, replacing Blaine Gabbert.
