Former Kansas Coach on March Madness Stage

From Southeast Kansas to the NCAA Tournament, Alaura Sharp has been on one incredible journey.

Sharp is the head coach of Presbyterian College, the smallest Division 1 program in the country, and just led the women's basketball team to their first NCAA Tournament win in program history.

She says she embraces the mentality of seizing every day.

Sharp grew up in Fredonia, playing in high school before continuing her basketball career at Fort Scott Community College. She says the values of Southeast Kansas have shaped her coaching.

Sharp has spent five seasons coaching in junior college, as well as being a Division 1 assistant before earning her first head coaching role in D1. She says this is the pinnacle of her career so far.

Sharp and Presbyterian battle the top team in the nation, South Carolina, tonight in the second round.
