Chiefs Agree to Deal with Chris Jones

One of the most dominant defensive linemen in the NFL is staying in Kansas City.

Defensive tackle Chris Jones and the Chiefs have agreed to a five-year deal worth nearly $160 million, with $95 million fully guaranteed in the first three seasons.

Jones will become the highest paid defensive lineman in NFL history, based on average annual salary, passing Nick Bosa, Aaron Donald, and TJ Watt.

Jones says he is thankful a deal got done.

Jones held out of training camp last year and missed the first game of the season while waiting for a deal. He would return in Week 2 and record 10.5 sacks on the season, earning first-team All-Pro, and his third Super Bowl.

He says he was never worried about leaving Kansas City.

Jones was a second-round pick in 2016 out of Mississippi State, and will be under contract with the Chiefs through 2028.
