Ravens Advance to Region VI Quarterfinals

 

The Red Ravens are off to the Region VI Quarterfinals, following a pair of victories in the first round of the postseason.

 

The Lady Ravens earn a 67-52 win over the Colby Trojans. The team started slow, trailing by six in the first quarter. but battled back in the second and third quarters. Head coach Tony Turner says he's proud of the team for not panicking.

 

Ivy Fox, Bailey Layman, and Kyleigh Ortiz combined for 42 points, with all three in double figures. Tetona Woods-Blackowl also dished out six assists. Turner says those four will be crucial to playoff success.

 

The men also got a first round win, with a victory over Pratt, 88-77.

 

The team has scored at least 88 points in three straight games, which have all been victories. Assistant coach Braeden Proctor says the team is gaining confidence.

 

Jahni Summers led the team with 31 points, and Brian Griffith had 20 points as well. Proctor says those two have been big shot makers for the team.

 

Both teams travel to Great Bend for the quarterfinals, with the ladies battling the 4-seed Barton Cougars tomorrow at 5:30 p.m., and the men playing the 1-seed Barton at 7:30 p.m. The games can be heard on US 98.
