Jayhawks, Wildcats Each Land Safety Transfer

 

With the 2023 season winding down for both the Kansas Jayhawks and the Kansas State Wildcats, each program has landed a key transfer in the portal this week.

 

Lance Leipold and the Jayhawks welcome safety Devin Dye to the defense, choosing KU over Kansas State and Utah. Dye comes from Utah State and had 81 tackles and seven pass breakups this season.

 

Dye's brother, Jalen, is also on the Jayhawk football team, and both are the sons of former Royals outfielder Jermaine Dye.

 

Kansas State begins their quest of replacing the production of Kobe Savage, adding safety Jordan Riley from Ball State University.

 

Riley is an experienced defender, playing in 37 games, including against Georgia and Tennessee. He has collected 167 tackles, 20 pass breakups, and a forced fumble in his college career.

 

Both Dye and Riley are expected to be starters for their new respective teams in 2024.
