The Kansas Jayhawks have taken steps forward on the football field, but will be looking for a bowl game victory without their best interior lineman.

 

Senior Dominick Puni will opt out of the team's bowl game against UNLV tomorrow, focusing on preparation for the upcoming NFL Draft.

 

Puni spent four years in Division 2 at Central Missouri, before transferring to the Jayhawks. He was honorable mention All-Big 12 lasat season, before moving to left tackle this season and earning first team all-conference.

 

He is also a finalist for the Polynesian Player of the Year award, and will be participating in the upcoming Senior Bowl.

 

Puni is projected as a potential second or third round draft pick. Freshman Calvin Clements will get the start for the Jayhawks.
