The Cherryvale Chargers begin a new basketball season with a new leader at the helm of the team.

 

Brett Gilchrist begins his first season as the Chargers boys basketball coach. He says the group is still working on building chemistry between returners and new players.

 

The notable name on the Chargers is senior guard Stetson Schaffer, one of the best basketball players in all of Southeast Kansas. Gilchrist says Schaffer brings great talent, but is also learning a new system.

 

The Chargers look for their first win under Gilchrist tonight at 5 p.m. in the final game of the Wildcat Tournament in Yates Center.
