It's the changing of the guard at the quarterback position for Chris Klieman.

 

Senior Will Howard announced his intent to enter the transfer portal earlier this week, opening the door for freshman quarterback Avery Johnson to take over.

 

Tim Everson of the Manhattan Mercury says the writing was on the wall for a while.

 

Howard is one of the most accomplished quarterbacks to enter the portal in recent years. Everson says he already has numerous big name schools contacting him.

 

Wherever Howard ends up going, the primary focus will be on earning a chance to play professional football. Everson says he feels that Howard should look for a specific situation.

 

Will Howard is a graduate transfer, and will be eligible to play one final season of college football immediately.
