Jayhawks Drop First Game to Marquette

The nation's top team learned for the first time that they aren't invincible.

Kansas struggled for a majority of the evening against Marquette, culminating in a 73-59 loss in the Maui Invitational semifinals.

The Jayhawks committed crucial turnovers late in the first half, allowing the Golden Eagles to open up a double digit lead, that was too much for KU to overcome.

Hunter Dickinson was held to just 13 points, while Kevin McCullar Jr led the Jayhawks with 24 points.

Head coach Bill Self says it was a challenging game for the team.

The Jayhawks battle Tennessee this afternoon in the Maui third place game.
