Alec Marsh Earns First Big League Win

A young Royals pitcher earned his first Major League win yesterday.

Right-hander Alec Marsh recorded 13 outs in a 7-6 win over the Chicago White Sox, allowing only one run with five strikeouts.

Royals manager Matt Quatraro says this was the best he's seen Marsh pitch.

Marsh has made 14 total appearances since making his Major League debut in late June, and entered last night's action 0-8 on the season. He has been drastically better since the All-Star break, with his ERA down more than a run and a half, and his strikeout numbers up.

Quatraro says Marsh has made tweaks to improve his strikeout numbers.

The steady improvement of Marsh during the course of the season has been a positive in a Royals 2023 season they'd like to forget. Marsh will be competing for a spot in the 2024 starting rotation or bullpen.
