Oklahoma City has finalized plans for a new downtown arena for the city's NBA franchise.

 

The Thunder have also agreed to play in the new arena for at least 25 seasons following completion. The building plan and the organization commitment is conditional on the passing of a temporary sales tax by OKC voters in December.

 

Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt says this will be the largest project in the city's history.

 

Thunder ownership have committed to contribute $50 million to the construction of the new arena, which is projected to cost at least $900 million to complete.

 

The timeline for the new arena is to be open in time for the 2029-30 NBA season.
