Wildcats Open Season Ranked Highest in 18 Years

Kansas State football will open the season in the Top 25 in the Coaches' Poll for the first time since 2017.

The Wildcats find themselves at No. 17 in the preseason rankings, which places third in the Big 12 conference behind Texas (No. 12) and reigning national runner-up TCU (No. 16). Oklahoma (No. 19) and Texas Tech (No. 24)  are also ranked from the Big 12.

This is the highest preseason ranking for KSU since the 2004 season, when they opened at No. 13. The Kansas Jayhawks also received a Top 25 vote, but enter the season unranked.

Back to back national champion Georgia opens at the top of the polls, with Michigan, Alabama, Ohio State, and LSU completing the preseason Top 5.

Kansas State finished 10-4 in 2022, winning a Big 12 conference championship before losing to Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.
