Independence Community College will soon be looking for a new head men's basketball coach.

 

Head Coach Justin Mann is stepping down as coach of the Pirates, and will become an assistant coach at NCAA Division 2 West Florida.

 

Mann has served as ICC coach since 2021, and was the associate head coach with the program for two seasons prior to that. He has also coached at D2 Urbana University, D3 Eastern Nazarena College, NAIA Thomas University, and JUCO Daytona State.

 

The Pirates finished with a 10-22 record last season, however ended the season playing competitive basketball. After losing close contests to Dodge City, Coffeyville, and Barton (top 3 seeds in KJCCC), Independence upset 5-seed Garden City in the postseason, before falling to eventual region champion Butler in the Quarterfinals.

 

The school is expected to make an official announcement shortly.
