Jayhawks Land Pair of Edge Rushers

The Kansas Jayhawks celebrated the 4th of July weekend in style, landing two highly touted edge rushers in the Class of 2024.

Deshawn Warner of Desert Edge High School in Arizona, chose the Jayhawks on Saturday over schools such as Texas, Washington, and Oregon State. Warner is a 6-foot-4 and 225 pound defensive end, and ranked the 12th best player in the state of Arizona.

Joining Warner as a new Jayhawk commit is Dakyus Brinkley, a linebacker from Katy, Texas. Brinkley is a four-star recruit, and chose KU over Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Kansas State.

Brinkley is rated the 27th best outside linebacker in the country, and he tallied 41 tackles and two sacks last season at Seven Lakes High School. Brinkley is the son of former NFL linebacker Jasper Brinkley and Olympic hurdler Kellie Wells-Brinkley.

If Brinkley signs with the Jayhawks in December, he would be the highest rated high school commit in program history.
