Jayhawks Land No 1 Seed in West, Will Battle Howard

 

After a dominant second half of the season in which they emerged as the clear top team in the Big XII conference, the Kansas Jayhawks enter the NCAA Tournament as a top seed.

 

The Jayhawks earned the No. 1 seed in the West Region, which is their 33rd consecutive trip to the big dance, an NCAA record. Kansas will open the tournament with 16 seed Howard in Des Moines, Iowa on Thursday.

 

Howard enters the tournament as champions of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, and are 22-12 on the season. It will be the first tournament appearance for the Bison since 1992, and just their third in program history.

 

Kansas is 2-0 against the Bison in their meeting history, with their last matchup coming in 2011 when KU won 89-34.
