Red Ravens Complete Sweep of Cowley Tigers

 

The Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens completed the season sweep of the Cowley Tigers last night, with the Lady Ravens and the men's team both keeping pace in the conference championship chase.

 

The Lady Ravens were able to hold on in Game 1 with a final score of 72-67. The Ravens had a 20 point lead in the 3rd quarter, but the Tigers battled back, outscoring Coffeyville 29-19 in the final frame.

 

The Red Ravens struggled at the free throw line for a majority of the contest, but when it mattered most freshman Tetona Woods-Blackowl was able to convert on four consecutive free throws.

 

The Lady Ravens improve to 13-6 on the season, and 9-4 in conference play. They will face Garden City on Saturday at 2 p.m.

 

The men's team won Game 2 and completed the doubleheader sweep with a 87-71 victory over Cowley.

 

For the second consecutive game, the Red Ravens jumped out to a 20 point halftime lead, one that they wouldn't relinquish. Six different CCC players scored at least 11 points, led by Soti Nafpliotis who had 15. The Ravens shot 61% from the floor as a team on the night.

 

The Red Ravens improve to 15-4, with a 9-4 conference record. They sit in 2nd place with a matchup Saturday against 4th place Garden City at 4 p.m.
