Newly Ranked Wildcats Battle Cowboys

 

The Kansas State Wildcats are 14-1 and off to their best start in 64 years as they head into a matchup with Oklahoma State.

 

The Cowboys enter with a record of 9-6 on the season, and 1-2 in Big 12 play. The Wildcats swept the conference player of the week awards for the first time in school history, with Markquis Nowell earning Player of the Week, and Keyontae Johnson winning Newcomer of the Week.

 

Nowell continues to play like the best player in the conference after posting 32 points and 14 assists in the overtime win against Baylor. Nowell is 2nd in Divison 1, averaging 8.9 assists per game.

 

The Wildcats also feature one of the most lethal trios in the country, with Nowell, Johnson, and Nae'Qwan Tomlin averaging 47.2 points per game combined on 49% shooting.

 

Oklahoma State is a league average offensive team averaging 69.3 points per game, but features a quick and challenging defense that is one of the premiere units in the Big 12. The Cowboys defense is 3rd nationally in field goal percentage, 17th in blocks per game, and 28th in scoring defense.
