Coffeyville Rocks Neosho, Wins Both Games

Coffeyville's two teams continued their winning streaks on Saturday, with the women taking down Neosho County 83-69 and the men winning 71-62.

The women's game was a scrappy affair, with the fouls racking up and the two teams making frequent trips to the free throw line. Neosho was the main benefactor, taking 35 free throw attempts and making 23 of them. However, Coffeyville was able to overcome the foul trouble and used a balanced scoring attack to take a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter. Although the Panthers would find a small run near the end of the game, the Red Ravens would coast to a 24-5 record and a 14-5 Jayhawk Conference record.

The men's game would be a close one, with both teams never really leaving the other behind. Coffeyville, playing without Manny Crump, found themselves playing with a smaller lineup more often than not. Kymani Dunham would struggle with fouls throughout the game, but Bostyn Holt would find himself to be fairly effective in the paint. Holt picked up 17 points off the bench to lead the team. The Red Ravens were also effective in their shot selection, shooting 47 percent from the field. Coffeyville improves to 21-8 this season and 13-6 in the conference.

Coffeyville will take next Wednesday off before finishing up the regular season next Saturday against Butler. The women will start at 5 p.m. with the men to follow afterward.
