Coffeyville Sweeps Allen County Again

Both Coffeyville Red Ravens teams took care of business on Monday, with the men defeating Allen County 82-74 and the women doing the same by a score of 74-55.

The Coffeyville women would jump out to an incredible 15-2 lead in just a couple of minutes, a lead that would never be in any real danger of the course of the game. Although the lead would never grow to be any bigger than 24, the Red Ravens would experiment with different lineups and let players who have not got much playing time over the year get more time on the court. Faith Simpson picked up another double-double on the night, racking up 26 points and 18 rebounds. Alana Kramer would add 11 points as the only other scorer to reach double-digits for the Red Ravens.

The men's game was a much closer affair, although Coffeyville's men jumped out to a similarly large lead as the women had done before them. At one point leading by as much as 16, the Red Ravens watched as Allen would chip away slowly at the deficit. Leading by 6 at the half, Coffeyville would let the Red Devils get back to within 1 point, but pulled away and managed to never let Allen retake the lead. Meikkel Murray led all Red Ravens scorers with 26, with Tony Hutson (19), Manny Crump (12), and Kymani Dunham (11) joining him in double figures.

Coffeyville's women improve to 22-5 on the season and 12-5 in the Jayhawk Conference, while the men move their record to 19-8 and 11-6 in the conference. A rivalry awaits the Red Ravens on Wednesday, as the two teams will travel to Independence for a meeting with the Pirates. The women will tip off at 6 p.m, with the Coffeyville feed on US 98.1 KUSN and the Independence feed on Star 98.9 KQQF.
