Melchiori Sets School Record as Caney Valley Beats Sedan

 

Caney Valley Senior Camdyn Melchiori set the single game scoring record by pouring in 45 points in the Bullpups' 74-47 win over Sedan on Tuesday night. 

 

Melchiori had 16 in the first quarter, 27 at halftime and 37 after three quarters before getting pulled midway thru the fourth quarter with 45 as his team led big for a majority of the game. 

 

Caney Valley opened the game up 15-2 but Sedan clawed back early into the second quarter as the deficit was cut to eight points before their leading scorer, Dameion Hatten, had to leave the game with three fouls. 

 

Caney Valley took advantage with Hatten on the bench as they blew open the game to lead by 17 at halftime and was able to push it out the rest of the way. 

 

Outside of Melchiori with his school record 45 points, Trey Richey added 12 for Caney Valley. Hatten led the way for the Blue Devils finishing with 18 points. 

 

Both teams are 3-3 and the next game of the week broadcast on 690 KGGF will be on Friday with Cherryvale at Neodesha.
