The Fredonia Yellowjackets held off West Elk on Friday night 62-53 in a ballgame that was filled with ups and downs all throughout the night.
In the first half, both teams struggled offensively as the Yellowjackets led 26-18 at the break. West Elk picked up the pace in the second half and erased at 10 point deficit to take the lead on multiple occasions but hit a struggle in the fourth quarter and Fredonia was able to hold on for their second straight win as they head into the holiday break with a 4-2 record.
The Yellowjackets posted three players in double figures led by Senior Connor O'Neal who had a game high 21 points while Senior Cooper O'Dell and Junior Layne Mayeske chipped in with 13 and 12 points respectively.
West Elk heads into the break at 2-2 and were led in scoring by Junior Devin Loudermilk with 18 while Senior Caleb Walker posted a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
The next game of the week on 690 KGGF will be on January 7th featuring Sedan at Caney Valley.
