CCC Men and Women's Basketball Fall in Close Contests

Both the Coffeyville Men's and Women's basketball teams suffered close defeats on Wednesday night, with the men losing to Barton Community College 89-85 and the women losing by a score of 69-66.

Despite winning the second half, the men could not make up for a 41-29 halftime deficit. Kymani Dunham led all Red Ravens scorers with 18 points, with Tylor Perry (16), Meikkel Murray (16), Bostyn Holt (14) and Tony Hutson (14) also adding double-digit totals to the cause as well. Unfortunately for Coffeyville, the scoring was scarce outside of those five, with only 7 points coming from the rest of the starters and bench.

The women's game would be close all the way through, with the Red Ravens only trailing by 2 points at halftime. But after a tied third quarter, Barton would prove themselves able to hold onto their slim lead and came away with the aforementioned 3-point victory. Alana Kramer led all Lady Ravens in scoring with 13, but several players finished with 9 points, including Kailyn Lay, Julia Calafell, and Faith Simpson. The latter made her CCC debut, going 4-6 from the field and adding some height in the post.

Both the CCC men (9-4, 1-2) and women (11-2, 1-2) will be in action this Saturday, as the Red Ravens coming back home for a matchup with Pratt Community College. The women's game will tip off at 2 p.m, with the men's game following. The game can be heard on US 98.1, KUSN.
