Caney Valley Routs Neodesha 47-6

 

The Caney Valley Bullpups wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard early and often as the beat Neodesha by a score of 47-6.  After forcing a three and out on the Blue Streaks first play of the game, Caney Valley got into the end zone on their first snap of the game as Ben Nunneley ran for 47 yards untouched down the right-left sideline to put Caney up 7-0. Caney Valley forced another three and out and punched the ball into the end zone again as Eryk Kyser plunged over the right side of the line to put the Bullpups up 14-0 early in the first quarter. Trey Richey wrapped up the scoring for Caney Valley in the first quarter with a 31-yard touchdown pass to Senior Tight End Andrew Bowman to put the Pups up 20-0 after the PAT was blocked.

 

The second quarter began with Neodesha turning over the ball on downs and Caney Valley capitalizing on the very next play with Richey tossing his second touchdown of the night by hitting Tanner Rose in stride to extend the Pups lead to 27-0. Richey found Rose again with just under a minute left in the first half completing a 10-yard pass and Rose did the rest by making Neodesha players miss on his way into the end zone. The first half ended with the Pups sporting a 34-0 lead.

 

Caney Valley received the kick to begin the second half and Eryk Kyzer picked up his second touchdown of the night by rushing it in the from the 11-yard line to push the margin to 41-0 and force a running clock according to KSHSAA rules.

 

After trading punts the rest of the 3rd quarter and half of the 4th quarter, Richey faked a punt with about seven minutes left and raced down the left sideline for a 54-yard touchdown.

 

Neodesha refused to give up and Adrian Harrell returned the ensuing kick 90-yards for a touchdown to put the Blue Streaks on the board.  The 2-point conversion failed to set up the final score of 47-6.

 

Trey Richie finished the game with 130 yards passing and three touchdowns and tacked on 58 yards rushing with a touchdown. Ben Nunneley went over 100 yards for the third straight game as he rushed for 127 yards and picked up a touchdown.

 

Caney Valley will begin district play next week as they host Columbus who defeated Girard Friday night to push their record to 3-0 on the season. You will be able to listen to the game on 104.1 KGGF.
