Coffeyville Dominates 139 to 69

The Coffeyville Red Ravens were back on the hardwood tonight as they faced off against the Ottawa JV Braves. On paper the Coffeyville Red Ravens were clear favorites to win this game though they still needed to improve upon some faults they made over the weekend. Not knocking down shots and tacking up foul numbers was a clear area they needed to improve upon coming off two wins over the weekend. C.C.C. from the tip came out strong forcing turnovers and scoring on those turnovers as they put up 43 points off of those takeaways throughout the night. They got big play from many key players as well as a few new numbers we’re not used to seeing. Starters Casey Benton, Marvin Johnson and Manny Crump all score in the double digits, but they got huge play off the bench from a key bench player from last year Anthony Jones. He finished the top scorer with 21 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds. Jones led a very impressive scoring parade by the rest of C.C.C. as they handle the braves with no problem. Finishing the first half up leading 71 to 39 shooting over 50% from all 3 shooting categories. Those numbers did not diminish in the 2nd half as the abundance of scoring continued. Getting big play from another freshman Tony Hutson who scored all 12 of his points from 3 shooting 4 of 6 from deep in the second half and the Red Ravens continued to push down on the gas pedal and score more and more. They finish the night shooting 54-91(59%) from the floor, 21-46(45%) from 3 and shot 72% from the free throw line. A prolific score line finds the Red Ravens with one of their biggest wins in school history. They beat the Ottawa JV Braves 139 to 69 in an easy home game victory as they prepare for a holiday weekend and a tough test next week to wrap up November. Next Wednesday they will host another top 25 national matchups at home as the Blue Dragons from Hutchinson travel to Jay Herkleman Court at Nellis Hall to challenge the Ravens. If the shoot the way they did, and keep emphasizing limiting those foul numbers, there’s not to many to teams in the nation that could win, though Hutch proves to be a tough test next week. Tip of at 7PM next Wednesday covered on 98.1 KUSN FM
