Lady Red Ravens Fall At Home 67-50

The Coffeyville Lady Red Ravens returned to the court tonight as they hosted North Eastern Oklahoma A&M College at Nellis Hall. Coming into the night at 0 and 2 on the year as both 2 games, they played physical defense, but the offense made mistakes and struggled to score. Those struggles continued into tonight as they ladies played a fairly clean defensive first quarter but was held to only 5 points heading into the 2nd as they trailed 16-5. Second quarter was more of the same for the ladies as N.E.O was able to put up another 19 and led 35-16 heading to halftime. Coming out of halftime the Lady Red Ravens got some energy as they got 8 points from both Tatiana McCree and Lasheicka Joseph, but the Lady Norse of N.E.O also came out of halftime strong scoring another 18 and having comfortable lead heading into the 4th, which is exactly what they needed. The Lady Red Ravens came out firing in the 4th quarter outscoring N.E.O 20-14 and getting a big contribution from freshman Chesney Downing. She led the Lady Red Ravens on the night with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and shot 75% from the free throw line at 6 of 8. The big play in the first 3 quarters by the Lady Norse was enough as they get the win over the Lady Red Ravens 67 to 50. That moves C.C.C. to 0 and 3 to start the year and the focus turning to the offense during practice as well as playing a complete game, not just a 4th quarter. Desperately needing a leader to step up, whether it’s one of the few returners or one of the many returners. Plenty of time to regroup as the next time the Lady Red Ravens are back on the court is next week on Tuesday back at home against Bethany JV tip off at 7PM.
