Ravens Baseball Season Ends in Hutchinson

The Red Ravens Baseball season wrapped up this weekend with a first round exit in the opening round of the Region VI tournament. Red Ravens did put up a solid fight, as they traveled to Hutchinson Community College as a 9 seed to play the 8 seeded Blue Dragons. Game one Red Ravens got a stellar performance by starting pitcher Gavin Holmes as he picks up the win. He goes 7 strong innings giving up no runs on 6 hits and an impressive 11 strikeouts. That pitching performance plus a 2 run homer by Jorge Ortiz to spark the offense gets the Red Ravens a win in game one 6 to 1. In game 2 it was Blue Dragon pitching that came out and dominated, as Wyatt Divis of Hutchinson throws a complete game only giving up 4 hits a 2 runs through the afternoon. Hutchinson also had 5 players contribute RBI’s for the team as the Blue Devils take game two by 5 winning 7 to 2. Win or go home scenario arose as game three yesterday took place, again up in Hutchinson. Both of these teams played like it, knowing with a loss their 2018 season would come to an end. A back and forth battle throughout the game but Hutchinson Community College Blue Devils edge out the Red Ravens in game 3 by a score of 4 to 3. Hutchinson travels to the next round in Wichita and plays the number one seeded Cowley Community College. Red Ravens obviously discouraged from the loss but are happy with the 2nd half performance of the 2018 season as they finish 28 and 26.
