Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the 24th annual National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

All are encouraged to bag healthy, non-perishable food items and place them near your mailbox tomorrow. Area cities participating this year include Coffeyville, Independence, Parsons and Caney. Donations in Coffeyville will go to Genesis and the Salvation Army.  Independence Rural Carrier Katie Uncapher says you can start leaving food at or in your mailbox today.

Organizers say more than 44 million Americans are unsure where their next meal will come from, and the timing of this drive is critical as many food pantries are usually depleted this time of year after their Thanksgiving and Christmas donations. Over the years, letter carriers have collected well over 1.9 billion pounds of food across the USPS Network.
