Governor Laura Kelly appoints four area residents to a state board.

 On Friday, Governor Kelly appointed four Galena residents to the Route 66 Centennial Commission. Appointed were Doug Gatewood, Jessica Walker, Mary Billington, and Renee Charles. The purpose of the commission is to celebrate the 100^th anniversary of the historic Route 66 in 2026.

 The Commission is composed of representatives recommended by the governors of eight states traversed by Route 66, along with representatives recommended by the U.S. Department of Transportation, and leadership of the U.S. House and Senate.
