Montgomery County Commissioners Agree to Revisit Bridge Closure

Montgomery County Commissioners agree to revisit the issue of a bridge closure on a county road in the northeastern part of the county.

At last week's commission meeting, residents from County Road 6200 near the junction of US-400 and US-169 showed up in force to ask commissioners to reconsider the closure of a low-water bridge. Residents cited a lengthy detour for both themselves and emergency vehicles. At this week's meeting, the three commissioners agreed to take another look at the issue. Commissioner Robert Bever says the bridge will be removed to see what steps need to be taken.

For the time being, the road will remain closed.

In other business, the county will no longer be responsible for tornado sirens in Havana, Dearing, Liberty, and Sycamore. Due to the way the sirens are set up, they will be the responsibility of the cities instead.
