The Caney Police Department continues to warn residents about potential scams following the recent storm damage.

Caney PD is receiving reports of roofing and hail repair companies requesting citizens not go through their insurance company and pay them. This can create a perfect opportunity for a scam. They say to be cautious about entering into agreements and money transactions with an outside company without an insurance provider.

They have also received calls regarding some of these companies pushing elderly homeowners to enter into an agreement. Any agreements or business transactions constitute as civil matters but, if a contractor becomes a nuisance or makes homeowners feel uncomfortable or unsafe, call Caney PD at (620)879-2141.
