The Official Season Opening for Riverside Park in Independence is coming up on Saturday, April 13th.
The festivities will include lots of family-friendly fun. Independence Chamber President Lisa Wilson says this year's event has a special historical theme.
Train and carousel rides will be free, plus there will be free face painting. The First Leadership Youth will also host a Putt-Putt Tournament for teams of four players. Wilson says this is a special project.
The tournament will start at 8am and the entry fee is $10 per team. The Park Opening runs from 11am to 3pm next Saturday.
