Storm Damage in SEK, Baseball-Size Hail Reported in Caney Area

A severe thunderstorm ripped through Caney this afternoon, bringing ping pong, golf ball and even baseball-sized hail and high winds.

The storm gained intensity in Osage County, Oklahoma and eventually crossed the state line, making its way through Caney.  Broken windows in Caney, power outages and even a tree across Highway 75 were reported.  Caney public works responded quickly to remove the tree from the road.  Montgomery County Emergency Manager Rick Witson says there's damage to rooftops, siding and a lot of broken windows but no reported injuries at this time.

The bulk of the hail missed Coffeyville, but the storm still caused some damage.  Hail nearing golf-ball size was reported in addition to tree damage in Coffeyville.  Power outages are being reported between 8th and 11th street west of Buckeye due to downed trees on primary lines.  According to Coffeyville Municipal Light and Power, linemen have been dispatched to the area.

Update 7:54: Some Evergy customers are without power, restoration is expected around 9:30.

Update 8:45: A tornado was reported crossing US 75 two miles south of Lenapah, and a rolled semi with entrapment was also reported.
